MESSAGE FROM ROBERT SCHMIDT

In a few weeks (May 25th – 27th) at the Bussey Building, an exciting opportunity to engage with students from Japan and the UK looking at how Peckham could be reshaped in the future will take place.  The Adapting Peckham Workshop aims to present design ideas to the community for iscussion and feedback to the local authority for current issues being debated around the implementation of the Peckham and Nunhead Area Action Plan.

It brings together different universities, cultures, disciplines and scales of investigation to visualize possible implementations framed by the area action plan.  Six critical sites in central Peckham are considered in more detail:  Peckham Rye Station, The mutli-storey car park, the Bussey building, Peckham Square, Sumner Building, and the former Tuke school. The workshop actively seeks local practitioner and community member input to help inform the student journey and the production of a film for the community.  We hope that you are interested in Peckham, its future and engaging with the students, the council, and other community members to help visualize creative possibilities.
