Sat 25 June 2pm Sketch Peckham!

Saturday 25th June 2011 is the first national Civic Day to celebrate where we live: England’s first ever Civic Day and over 150 civic societies will be holding events to celebrate their area and keep it distinctive. Everyone is invited to join in and learn more about where they live. Our local civic society – The Peckham Society – is holding an afternoon workshop that celebrates Peckham’s fine architecture by drawing it. See further details below:

SKETCH PECKHAM! – message from the Peckham Society

SATURDAY 25th JUNE   2.00-6.00pm
Meet under the arch at Peckham Town Square, at the High Street, at 2pm

The session will be led by two expert townscape sketchers Bill Morris and Benedict O’Looney, from the committee of the Peckham Society. They say: “Our plan is to draw some of the picturesque townscape on the High Street and Rye Lane from under the arch at the Peckham Square. We will start with a sketching demonstration, a quick talk about the art of cityscape sketching and why the buildings of central Peckham are so interesting.

Sketching, and discovering Peckham’s original village centre could be fun, and a cheerful support for the Peckham Society’s campaign for a central Peckham Conservation Area that will help preserve some of these historic houses.

Bring: sketchbooks or paper, pens, pencils and any other media that you would like to draw with! (and maybe something to sit on and warm clothes…)”
