book market & fun Fri-Sun 24-26 June in Copeland Cultural Quarter & Bussey Building

The Copeland Cultural Quarter stirs into more organic growth this coming weekend. Son Gallery are hosting a whole weekend of art, music and food as they launch their first Copeland Book Market from Friday to Sunday. See details below. This is an exciting demonstration of the potential that Peckham Vision first drew attention to in calling the site, once designated for demolition (see http://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/images/2/21/,

Son Gallery presents Copeland Book Market,
24th – 26th June.

Venue: Unit 9C 133 Copeland Road Peckham SE15 3SN. Walk along Bournemouth Road from Rye Lane and turn left into Copeland Road.

Son Gallery invite you to their weekend of art, music and food as they launch their first Copeland Book Market in Copeland Industrial Estate.

Celebrating photobooks and the integration of art and literature, Son Gallery have invited 20 publishers – both national and local publishing houses – to exhibit a selection of their finest photobooks. From Steidl Mack to ABC Artists’ Book Collaboration there is a range of media, subject matter and price (with prices ranging from £3 to £30) with a large focus on photography and lens based media.

There will also be an exhibition of Tom Lovelace’s work in the gallery itself, as well as ‘The Gin and Lamb’ a pop up restaurant on the roof of the Bussey Building serving the two great British
ingredients. The festival atmosphere will be completed by live music in the bar, and talks in the gallery by some of the exhibitors.

On Friday night Son is hosting the official afterparty for SLAM! South London Art Map’s Last Friday and to celebrate Top Nice will programming a night in the Bussey Building, with Off Modern doing the same on Saturday. It promises to be fun and fantastic so make sure you head down to the Copeland Industrial Estate throughout the weekend to experience it.
