This event tomorrow 14th December from 7pm is in the two apparently but not quite derelict houses at 135-137 Copeland Road beside the entrance to the Copeland Quarter site on Copeland Road – familiar to any who have been to the Hannah Barry Gallery or Son Gallery in the Copeland Cultural Quarter (http://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Copeland_Cultural_Quarter) The Peckham Hotel is another interesting pop-up experience in the same spirit as Frank’s Cafe and Bold Tendencies in the summer multi storey car park. This is an invitation to a very special evening at the Peckham Hotel this Wednesday. The aim is to help rebuild community after the riots.

Two months ago the Hotel was an abandoned crack den, now it’s been taken over by local artists with a full scale kitchen, bar, lights and music. They’ve also covered the garden in Christmas trees.

There will be a free night of art, music, film and politics at the Hotel with Kuntal Biswas this Wednesday 14th December from 7pm. We’re expecting 100 people to come, mainly locals but open to all. The line up includes:

–       Stand up comedy from the BBC’s Andy Zaltzman

–       Slam poetry performances from Hammer & Tongue

–       Political address from Lord Maurice Glasman

–       Live music, art workshops and short film screenings with a political twist

–       We’ll also be building a “Peckham Wall” of changes people want to see in the neighbourhood, inspired by the iconic post riots Peace Wall.

2 minute walk from Peckham Rye station. Turn right out of the station promenade onto the main road, Rye Lane. Take the first left onto Bournemouth Road, walk to the end and turn left. Push the wooden door that says 137-139 Copeland Road.
