Wed 14 March: latest news on Peckham town centre

Are you keen to know when the Old Waiting Room at Peckham Rye station will come back into operation; or when the original station square will now be restored? Do you think it will make a difference? Have you longed for the town centre to be cleaner, and wished it would sell a wider range of things? Do come and hear about and discuss these and many other aspects of reviving the town centre on:

WEDNESDAY 14th MARCH
from 4pm exhibition
7pm – 9pm meeting

at the CLF Art Cafe, Bussey building, 133 Rye Lane light refreshments available

The speakers will include:

* Benedict O’Looney with an illustrated talk on the historic buildings in the town centre that have potential for restoration, and also the latest news on the community-led restoration work at the station and the Old Waiting Room.

* Cllr Fiona Colley, Cabinet member for Regeneration, and Simon Bevan, Head of Planning, with news of the plans to restore the original square in front of the station, and other Council work to revive the town centre including the latest developments on the PNAAP**.

Council officers and community members will be available at the drop-in exhibition from 4pm to discuss much of this in detail –  if you want to come earlier or can’t get to the evening meeting.

An A4 poster for windows and noticeboards is attached, and an A6 flyer (A4 to cut into 4) for you to print out for your friends and neighbours. Can you leave some in any local cafes or surgeries etc? That would be a great help to spread the word as much as possible. This will be an enjoyable meeting as we celebrate the recent achievements and share ideas about how to realise even more.

Help on the day will be very much appreciated. If you can offer help or want to know more what is involved, please click reply so we can contact you.

** PNAAP = Peckham & Nunhead Area Action Plan. The Preferred Option is now available on-line for consultation at http://www.southwark.gov.uk/futurepeckham. Further details will be available at the exhibition on 14th March from 4pm.

You can view or take part in a local on-line discussion about the town centre and these developments on http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,842998,page=1
