Play a part in helping Peckham’s creative industries

Message from Peckham Vision  http://www.peckhamvision.org

WILL YOU SUPPORT PECKHAM’S CREATIVE INDUSTRIES?

Artistic & creative enterprises have grown in central Peckham in buildings saved from neglect or demolition by local community action.  A Government Inspector has proposed changes to the PNAAP (Peckham & Nunhead Area Action Plan) to strengthen the protection of places for artistic and creative enterprises behind the recent media publicity of Peckham as the latest ‘creative hotspot’. See below for more information. If you would like to support these changes, and would like to play a part in helping Peckham’s creative industries to grow and thrive, here is an opportunity to do so.

WRITE TO THE COUNCIL IN SUPPORT

There is one week left to write to the Council to support the Inspector’s proposed changes to the PNAAP. A sample letter is attached with the essential details.  PNAAP sample support letter

Please email the Council at <futurepeckham@southwark.gov.uk> BEFORE 5pm on 6th January 2014.

When the PNAAP is finalised, expected by mid 2014, it becomes the planning policy for planning applications and other planning matters in Peckham for the next 10-15 years.

**If you agree that the creative industries are important for Peckham’s future, it is important that you write to the Inspector to support his suggested modifications to the PNAAP.**

MORE INFORMATION

This was one of the planning matters covered in the recent Peckham Vision community pop-up @PeckhamSprings in Dovedale Court behind Bar Story in Blenheim Grove 16th-18th December. The exhibition display panel for this PNAAP consultation gives further explanation and background. It can be seen here: http://goo.gl/krDesM

Thank you to all who came to the exhibition, and a special thanks to our 21 volunteers. It was great to see you and discuss with so many the interesting and important aspects about our shared life in Peckham. This is a reminder to write if you wish to, and we hope an encouragement to write for those who were not able to attend. If you have any queries do let us know.

Some of the background to the Inspector’s proposals are on the Peckham Vision website here: http://goo.gl/RPw5rm

The Inspector’s reasons for his proposals on artistic and creative enterprises are set out here: http://goo.gl/nG3yNa

The detailed changes are set out in the council’s Table of modifications: (6.75MB) http://goo.gl/66sWpg

Happy New Year!

PS In the next month or so there will be for further ways you can take part in helping Peckham’s creative industries, and the town centre. Follow Peckham Vision Facebook & twitter (see below) and watch yr. inboxes…
