EMAIL Mayor Boris Johnson – Peckham Rye Station re-development

Message from Peckham Vision:
Please email London Mayor Boris Johnson to ask him to extend the deadline for the GLA funding to be spent to improve the area around Peckham Rye Station. See the template email below. See here for further information:
Southwark Council, and Harriet Harman MP for Camberwell and Peckham, have supported the hundreds of local pleas for more time to enable the community to work with the Council, GLA and Network Rail in a spirit of co-design for the Peckham Rye Station Gateway development. For this the GLA needs to agree to extend the deadline of 2016 for completing the work and spending their £5m.
Harriet Harman MP has written to London Mayor Boris Johnson to ask him to extend the time. See copy of the letter here: Harriet has said that it would be very helpful for as many local people as possible to email the Mayor as well.
Eleanor Kelly, the Chief Executive of Southwark Council is meeting with the GLA on Wednesday to discuss the extension. And on Thursday, Cllr Peter John, Leader of Southwark Council, and Cllr Fiona Colley, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, will be meeting with Network Rail.
Further information about the position of Harriet Harman MP and Southwark Council, and about the Gateway project, can be found on the Peckham Vision website:
Please forward this information to your friends and neighbours.

Dear Mayor
Peckham Rye Station area re-development
I am writing to ask you to agree to Southwark Council’s request for more time to spend the GLA’s contribution to the Peckham Rye station area re-development. The GLA’s money is supposed to be spent by 2016, but this deadline is not allowing time to develop the right scheme for Peckham.
I support the need for the development to create the new square to open up the area to the beautiful historic station building, and to improve the rest of the area around it. But the development needs to fit with the unique nature of Peckham town centre and the developing creative and cultural part of the local economy.
An extension to the GLA funding deadline will enable the local community to be properly engaged and to contribute to delivering a great scheme for Peckham.
Letters to the local press will also be very useful. You could cc yr. email to the Mayor to them, or adapt the text:
