Peckham 4 sites walk & New Southwark Plan (NSP)

To Peckham Vision mailing list

This email gives information on the next phase of the Council’s consultation about their ‘Preferred Option’ of the New Southwark Plan (NSP), which is an important document about land use in Southwark. It is used by developers, so it is essential for individual residents and communities across Southwark to get involved in this process, if they are to have any say in shaping their futures.

FOUR SITES WALK SATURDAY 1ST APRIL 11am-2pm
To help people engage with this very dry topic, we are organising a tour of the four major redevelopment sites proposed for Peckham in the New Southwark Plan (NSP), finishing with a round-up discussion in Peckham Vision’s Bussey studio. The round-up will cover what has been learnt on the walk, the issues raised by the proposals and how to make comments in the consultation.

We hope the walk and discussion will give interesting insights into the developments happening in Peckham town centre. See further information about the NSP below.

If you would like to take part in the walk, please book a free place here: http://goo.gl/tHGLzP .  Further information and briefing about the four sites and the tour and the assembly place will be emailed to all those who register to come.

PECKHAM PLANNING NETWORK (PPN) 23rd MARCH 2017
The PPN will be discussing at its next meeting the issues raised by the New Southwark Plan (NSP) and taking a first look at the four proposed redevelopment sites. If you would like to attend this meeting please email info@peckhamvision.org for information and to register.

NEW SOUTHWARK PLAN (NSP) INFORMATION
The (NSP) is now out for consultation until 28th April 2017. Four Peckham sites are proposed for redevelopment:
o the Aylesham Centre,
o cinema/multi-storey car park,
o Choumert car park
o Copeland/Blackpool Rd industrial site.
The details are on pages 207-219 in this extract from the NSP of the Peckham pages: http://goo.gl/LFokc4 .

The NSP also gives proposed plans for 14 neighbourhood areas right across the borough. In addition to Peckham, others covered include Camberwell, Old Kent Road, Nunhead and East Dulwich. The list of neighbourhoods is on Pages 3-4 in the NSP here (15.5MB) http://www.goo.gl/qubYGZ.

There are also one page ‘area visions’ for each neighbourhood, see page 205 for Peckham here: http://goo.gl/LFokc4 .

This is the last moment when it may be possible to have some effect on the Council’s plans for Peckham before the formal Public Inquiry in 2018. So it is well worthwhile to look at the proposals and prepare to give views before the end of April. The next consultation stage in the Autumn will be a formal one leading to the Public Inquiry.
