PECKHAM VISION OPEN STUDIO Wednesdays 11th & 18th October
Having had a constant flow of visitors to our Open Studio in September during the Peckham Festival, it was so enjoyable that we have decided to open the studio again on the next two Wednesdays 11th and 18th October from midday to 9pm.

We do hope you will be able to drop in during these times to see the exhibition about the role of community action and local businesses over the last decade in the transformation of the town centre. It also covers the waste, recycling, reuse and repurposing of buildings, spaces and materials that are an emerging feature of the transforming economy. Members of the Peckham Vision team will be present to respond to queries and glad to discuss the issues.

PLANNING TRAINING WORKSHOP Saturday 28th October
For those who have followed Peckham Vision’s news over the years, much has shown that the planning system creates hard work for anyone who wishes to follow it and take part in some way. It is a system clothed in technical language and mystery to most people who are not planners, architects or developers. Peckham Vision has teamed up with Community Southwark and Southwark Law Centre to develop a series of events to demystify this whole area to help citizens to play a real part in shaping their neighbourhoods.

Together we are presenting a free workshop to develop the training for this on SATURDAY 28th OCTOBER 10am-3pm, coffee & tea from 9.45am, at Cambridge House, Addington Sq, SE5 0HF. This email gives information on the next phase of the Council’s consultation about their ‘Preferred Option’ of the New Southwark Plan (NSP), which is an important document about land use in Southwark. It is used by developers, so it is essential for individual residents and communities across Southwark to get involved in this process, if they are to have any say in shaping their futures.

FOUR SITES WALK SATURDAY 1ST APRIL 11am-2pm
To help people engage with this very dry topic, we are organising a tour of the four major redevelopment sites proposed for Peckham in the New Southwark Plan (NSP), finishing with a round-up discussion in Peckham Vision’s Bussey studio. The round-up will cover what has been learnt on the walk, the issues raised by the proposals and how to make comments in the consultation.

We hope the walk and discussion will give interesting insights into the developments happening in Peckham town centre. See further information about the NSP below.

Aylesham Centre development – local views from 2016 events

Each year, Peckham Vision takes its stall and mobile exhibition about the town centre developments to several community fairs and festivals. Over the years since 2008, we have discussed the town centre developments with hundreds of local people. In 2016 one of the displays was about the Aylesham Centre redevelopment, one of the 4 sites in the draft New Southwark Plan (NSP) now out for consultation. We asked people to put comments on post-it notes.

REDEVELOPMENT OF AYLESHAM CENTRE AND MORRISON’S
There is a developer’s consultation meeting on Wednesday 23rd November, and on THURSDAY 24th NOVEMBER both at 6.30-8.30pm, about the future development of the Aylesham Centre, at Rye Lane Chapel (opposite Highshore Road). This is THE major development of Peckham town centre and we hope many local people will get involved in the discussion.
