PECKHAM VISION NEWS – Update on CoDesign

PUBLIC DISCUSSIONS – REDESIGNING PECKHAM RYE STATION AREA

* Have you given your ideas or your views about what you would like to see happen to the buildings
around the station? There are just three weeks left, so it is really important to get your contribution
in as soon as possible. Visit the CoDesign team (http://peckhamcodesign.org/about) at the station
or email them <codesigner@peckhamcodesign.org>

* Do you need to discuss your thoughts with other local people before you form your views? We
have now been able to arrange some events for this. We can offer this because of the kind donation
by Copeland Park of the use of a large studio space in the Bussey Building suitable for exhibitions
and public meetings. For October, it will enable us to display the community model which we
launched in July to help people think about the buildings and the public spaces. We hope it will be a
place where local people will come to explore and discuss with each other what they think about
town centre developments.

OCTOBER EVENTS IN THE BUSSEY BUILDING Room B 1.1

TUESDAY 7th OCTOBER   6.00pm – 9.00pm
* Possibilities in designing the area around the station*
This will be an interactive exchange of ideas, using the model and other tools, in developing
thoughts about the buildings and spaces in central Rye Lane. The model will be displayed along
with illustrations of various possibilities which local people have contributed and can add to. You
can drop in or stay for the session.

THURSDAY 16th OCTOBER Exhibition from 4pm. Forum 7pm – 9pm.
*Update on Central Peckham*: the Peckham Society’s annual symposium, a public forum on
developments in the town centre, jointly presented with Peckham Vision. Contributors include
Eileen Conn, Benedict O’Looney, and the CoDesign team.

These are great opportunities to discuss the issues. Do come if you can!

TAKE PART
Do you have an interest in:
* town centre model making?
* ideas for designing the area around the station?
* how to make the CoDesign work for us all?
* how to sustain the town centre’s evolving economy?

If you have an interest in any of these, come and take part in one or both of these events, and share
your thoughts with other local people. These will be interesting events about what is happening in
the town centre today, about its history, its future and the developments being planned. Come and
join in and get up to date on town centre developments! Please let your local contacts and
neighbours know and pass on the weblinks below.

DIRECTIONS TO THE EVENTS
The entrance to the Copeland Park is through the passage at 133 Rye Lane (opposite Blenheim
Grove). Instead of going up the front stairs into the Bussey building you follow the path round to the
right. Please follow the signs to the meeting room B1.1 on the first floor in the Bussey Building.
There is a lift at this staircase.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
We thank Copeland Park for the generous donation of the use of the studio space for these events.
